Akron/Family formed in Akron, Ohio in 2002 around Seth and Dana Clifford with Miles Seaton. Their early shows leaned into improvisation, and they pulled from Appalachian folk, psychedelic rock, and experimental electronics without settling into any one lane.
Their 2005 debut 'Singularity' set the tone, and later albums like 'Love is Simple' and 'Set 'Em Wild, Set 'Em Free' kept expanding what they could do with sound. Songs like 'Before And Again' and 'Another Sky' show how they weave together harmony and texture.
The band's lineup has stayed centered on the Clifford brothers and Seaton, with occasional collaborators filling out the edges. They've kept working in that space between traditional songcraft and something more open-ended, letting the songs breathe where they need to.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
