Al Martino was born Alfred Cini in Philadelphia. He worked as a truck driver before starting to sing in local nightclubs. In the mid-1950s, he signed with Capitol Records and put out his debut album, "Here's Al Martino."
His big break came with the ballad "I Have But One Heart," which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1952. That song became closely associated with him. He later had another hit with "Spanish Eyes" in 1965.
Martino kept recording through the 1970s and 1980s, with albums like "Daddy's Little Girl" and a self-titled release in 1979. He also made some film and television appearances during those years.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
