Al Volpe came together in Los Angeles in the early 1990s, with Jake Stone on vocals and guitar. Their debut album 'From the Depths' arrived in 1994, but it was the 1996 follow-up that gave them their breakthrough. The title track 'Surrender' connected with listeners and became their most recognizable song.
They put out two more albums, 'Echoes of the Void' in 1997 and 'The Shadow of the Wolves' in 2000. The band's time was marked by a certain intensity, both in their music and in the public attention around Stone's personal struggles. They called it quits in 2003.
