Al-X Spicy formed in Dubai in 2008 with four members: Ali Al-X on vocals and guitar, Fadi "Spicy" Issa on drums, Malek "El Niño" Ayari on bass, and Ayad "Piano" Qaddoura on keyboards. Their debut album 'Fire in the Desert' came out in 2010, mixing pop and rock with Arabic melodies.

Their song 'Don't Give Up' became something of an anthem in the region.

They put out a second album, 'Beyond Borders,' in 2015. The band was known for live shows and a sound that kept shifting, though internal tensions eventually surfaced.
