Archive material and source history
AL.3 formed in 2008 in Setúbal, Portugal, with João Gil on vocals, Henrique Oliveira on guitar, and Salvador Sobral on keyboards. Their sound pulls from pop, folk, and fado, and they broke through in 2010 with their debut album 'Ao Vivo.' That record included 'Aos Teus Pés,' a ballad that became a hit in Portugal.
In 2017, Sobral needed a heart transplant, which put the band on hold for a while. They came back with the 2018 album 'Alma,' which touched on themes of resilience. The group has released several studio albums, including 'Ao Vivo no Centro Cultural de Belém' in 2012.
