Editor's note

Alan e Aladim, a Brazilian duo from Ipatinga

A pair from Minas Gerais known for hits like 'Liguei Pra Dizer Que Te Amo' and 'Parabéns, Amor / Dois Passarinhos'.

For a sense of their early appeal, 'Liguei Pra Dizer Que Te Amo' still holds up. 'Parabéns, Amor / Dois Passarinhos' shows how they kept that sound going years later.

They built a following out of local festivals and bars before landing a record deal in 1999. Their debut 'Apaixonados' gave them a breakout with 'Liguei Pra Dizer Que Te Amo', and later tracks like 'Parabéns, Amor / Dois Passarinhos' kept their sound in rotation. Moreira's guitar and vocals paired with Silva's drumming gave their music a straightforward, lived-in feel.

They started in Ipatinga, playing around town until 'Apaixonados' hit in 1999. After that came albums like 'Na Pele' and 'A Festa', and in 2013 Moreira's thyroid cancer treatment paused things for a bit. They've had some public disagreements over songwriting along the way.

Archive material and source history

Alan e Aladim came out of Ipatinga in Minas Gerais, a duo made up of Alan Moreira and Aladim Silva. They started playing local festivals and bars, and by 1999 they had a record deal. Their debut album 'Apaixonados' did well, and the song 'Liguei Pra Dizer Que Te Amo' from it became a big hit.

Moreira sings and plays guitar, and Silva is the drummer. They've put out other albums like 'Na Pele' and 'A Festa'. Some of their other songs include 'Dois Passarinhos', 'Pra Poder Voltar Aqui', and 'A Dois Graus'.

In 2013, Moreira had to deal with thyroid cancer, which meant surgery and treatment and kept them off stage for a while. They've also had some public disagreements over songwriting and personal matters. They're both married with kids and keep that part of their lives fairly separate from the music.
