Alan Malafaia formed his namesake band in the early 2000s with a group that included his brothers Carlos on drums and Ricardo on bass, along with Rodrigo on guitar. Their first album came out in 2003, followed by others like 'Selvagem' in 2005 and 'Identidade' in 2007.
His lyrics often dealt with difficult subjects like addiction and political corruption, which drew both strong listeners and criticism. Songs such as 'Deixe o Tempo Passar' and 'Hoje' became known for their direct, sometimes provocative approach.
The band faced censorship from conservative groups who found their content too explicit. Despite that, they kept releasing music through 2010's 'Tudo Passa' and maintained a following for their unvarnished style.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
