That collaboration led to more Disney scores, including 'Beauty and the Beast,' 'Aladdin,' and 'Hercules.' One of his most recognizable songs is 'Friend Like Me' from 'Aladdin,' performed by Robin Williams as the Genie. Menken's songs like 'Colores En El Viento' and 'Someday' have become part of the Disney catalog.
In the early 2000s, Menken faced some criticism for using pre-recorded music in Broadway productions. He kept writing for film and theater, but that period showed how production methods could draw attention away from the music itself.
