Albert Bol

Albert Bol was a Dutch band that started in Rotterdam in the late 1960s. They were originally a group of friends playing local clubs, with Albert Bol himself on vocals and guitar, Jan van der Plas on bass, Leo van der Meer on drums, and Nico van Heijningen on keyboards.

In 1971 they released their debut album, also called 'Breng Mij Naar Rotterdam Terug.' That title track became their most recognizable song, a straightforward ode to their city that connected with people in Rotterdam. Another song people remember is 'Op de Heuvel In Het Park.'

They kept making music through the 1970s and into the early 1980s, putting out albums like 'Rotterdam 1981,' 'Dieven,' and 'Alles draait.' The band's lineup changed over time, but they stayed a Rotterdam act, playing melodic songs that sometimes touched on local life and social themes.
