Albert Collins was born in Leona, Texas in 1932. He started playing on a one-string guitar, which helped shape his approach to the instrument. In the late 1960s, he played in Johnny Winter's band before releasing his debut solo album 'The Cool Sounds of Albert Collins' in 1971.
His 1978 song 'Cold, Cold Feelin' became one of his best-known tracks, with its stark atmosphere and direct lyrics. Other songs like 'If Trouble Was Money' and 'A Good Fool Is Hard To Find' showed his way of writing about everyday struggles without much decoration.
Collins recorded several albums including 'Ice Pickin'' in 1978, 'Frostbite' in 1980, and 'Don't Lose Your Cool' in 1983. He died in 1993 at age 61.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
