Albert Vishi started out in Los Angeles, where he was drawn to hip-hop and electronic music. In 2008, he formed the band Voyage and they put out an EP called "Transient" that mixed those styles with R&B. The record got some attention in underground circles.
He went solo in 2011 and worked with vocalist Ane Flem on the single "Zombie." That track, along with others like "Find My Way" and "Looking Back To You," helped define his sound. He released albums including "Neon City" in 2013 and "Lost Souls" two years later.
Vishi's lyrics sometimes stirred debate, with critics accusing him of promoting drug use or nihilism. He kept writing anyway, putting out "The Phoenix" in 2017. His music stayed rooted in those early influences, even as he worked on his own.
