Alcatrazz formed in 1983 around guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen, with vocalist Graham Bonnet, bassist Gary Shea, and drummer Jan Uvena. Their debut album 'No Parole from Rock 'n' Roll' came out in 1985 and included the track 'Night Games,' which got some radio play at the time.
Malmsteen left the band in 1984, and Bonnet and Shea followed in 1986. The group went through several vocalists after that, including John Arch, Mark Boals, and Rick Altobello. They dissolved in 1988, reunited briefly in 2009 for some shows and an album called 'Disturbing the Peace,' then dissolved again in 2012.
Their catalog includes songs like 'Hiroshima Mon Amour,' 'Kree Nakoorie,' 'Starcarr Lane,' 'Desert Diamond,' and 'Breaking The Heart Of The City.'
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
