Alchemy

Alchemy formed in the late 1980s, a metal band that built their sound around heavy guitar work and progressive rock structures. Their debut album '1616' established this approach, mixing aggression with melodic complexity. Songs like 'Crucifixion (The Mad Messiah)' and 'The Enemy Inside (Insanity Curse)' show how they worked with dark themes and intricate arrangements.

Guitarist and vocalist Mike Mills started the band, with Chris Amott on bass, Chris Kurdziel on drums, and Rik Fox on keyboards. They followed '1616' with albums like 'Against the Grain' and 'The Unholy Union', maintaining a style that didn't easily fit mainstream expectations.
