Alcino Alves was born in 1924 in Cataguases, Minas Gerais. He wrote "As Andorinhas" in 1956, a song that became widely known in Brazil. The track appears on many of his recordings alongside other songs like "Garota de Programa" and "Pobre Homem Rico."
He recorded a number of other songs throughout his career, including "Bolero de Raquel," "Amanhã Vai Chover," and "Minha Namorada." He worked with singers like Ângela Maria, Nelson Gonçalves, and Cauby Peixoto.
Alves died in 2012. His song "As Andorinhas" is still played and remembered.
