Archive material and source history

Ale Maluf was born in Porto Alegre, Brazil, in 1953. He formed the band Cascavelletes in 1978, and in 1984 he joined Humberto Gessinger and Carlos Maltz to start Engenheiros do Hawaii. Their mix of rock and pop caught on in Brazil during that period.

In 1987, Maluf and Gessinger wrote "Ninguém Vai Me Superar," which became a defiant anthem that defined Maluf's career. The song's pulsing melody and lyrics about resilience connected with listeners, and it remains his most recognizable track. Other songs like "A Gente Virou Ex" and "Doida" also show his style.

Maluf left Engenheiros do Hawaii in the late 1990s and continued with solo work. He recorded albums such as Longe Demais das Capitais in 1986 and collaborated on Humberto Gessinger, Léo Henkin e Ale Maluf in 2007.
