Alee formed in Brasília in the early 2000s around vocalist Alethea, guitarist André Galindo, and bassist Rafael Prando. They started playing small clubs and open mics before their 2012 debut album 'Dores' gave them a national audience. The title track 'Dores' became a hit, a ballad about heartbreak that felt raw and direct.
Alethea's lyrics and stage presence provoked strong reactions, and a leaked video of an explicit performance during that period added to the scrutiny. After that, the band took a break and Rafael Prando left, replaced by Pedro Mamede on bass.
Alee returned in 2017 with songs like 'Bahia' and 'Isso Que É Bom' in their catalog. They've kept working since, though the lineup changes and the polarized response to their music have been part of their story in Brazilian funk.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
