Alemão do Forró formed around Vicente de Paula, who goes by the nickname Alemão. He left his hometown of Icó in Ceará during the 1990s and eventually put together the band that carries his name. Their sound is rooted in forró, the energetic dance music from Brazil's Northeast.
They've released albums like 'Meu Xodó' in 2000 and 'Fica Amor' in 2007, which shares its name with one of their popular tracks. Other songs people know include 'Balança o Povo' and 'Sai Dessa Coração.' The current lineup features Alemão on lead vocals and accordion, with Denilson on second accordion, Isaías on zabumba, Everaldo on triangle, Ronaldo on bass, and Hugo on guitar.
In 2015, the group faced accusations of plagiarizing a song, which stirred up some media attention. They've kept playing through various lineup changes over time, mixing traditional forró with touches of other Brazilian styles.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
