Alessandra Maestrini grew up in São Paulo and started with classical vocal training before moving toward MPB. She got her first real break in 2007 when she joined the cast of the musical "Hairspray," playing Tracy Turnblad. That role brought her some national attention.
She put out her first album, "Eu Sei Namorar," in 2008, and followed it with "Coração Aberto" in 2012. Along the way she worked with artists like Chico Buarque and Caetano Veloso. Her song "Deixa Estar (Cross My Heart)," which features Tiago Abravanel, came out in 2016 and did well on charts in Brazil and elsewhere.
Her other songs include "True Colors," "Quando a Primavera Chegar," and "Basta Um Dia." She performs live with a band that usually includes guitarists, bassists, drummers, and backing vocalists.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
