Alessandro Nem o Forrozeiro da Bahia

Alessandro Nem, known as O Forrozeiro da Bahia, comes from Irará, Bahia, where he started playing accordion early. His music is rooted in forró, the traditional dance music of Brazil's northeast. In the early 1990s, he released his debut album 'Dançando Mim Olhando Pra Tráz,' which gave him national recognition.

That title track became a hit, though some conservative groups criticized his lyrics at the time. He kept working, and songs like 'Ela Fala Que Mim Ama' and 'Hoje Eu To Solteiro 02' show his straightforward, rhythmic style. He's toured internationally and collaborated with artists like Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso.

His discography includes albums such as 'Ao Vivo' from 1994 and 'Forró Nordestino' from 1997. The music stays close to forró's core while occasionally touching on social themes familiar to Brazil's working class.
