Alessi was a Canadian pop rock band that formed in the mid-1990s. Their debut single 'Forever' came out in 1997 and became a mainstream hit. The group's lineup included lead vocalist Alessia Cara, guitarist Ryan Grieve, bassist Justin Gray, and drummer Derek Hoffman.
They released four studio albums between 1997 and 2003, starting with their self-titled debut 'Forever' and followed by 'Time After Time' and 'Unbreakable' before a greatest hits collection. Songs like 'All For a Reason' and 'Sad Songs' showed their straightforward pop rock approach with Cara's vocals at the center.
In 2002, the band faced plagiarism accusations regarding their song 'Time After Time,' though these were eventually dismissed. Cara's mental health struggles led to some hiatus periods and a tour cancellation in 2003. The group worked with Canadian artists including Sarah McLachlan and Shania Twain.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
