Alex e Eduardo

Alex e Eduardo formed as a duo in São Paulo in 1986. Their debut album came out the following year, mixing pop and folk with Brazilian rhythms. They built a following through the late 80s and 90s with straightforward, melodic songs that often leaned on themes of gratitude and connection. Their 1990 track "Te Agradeço Mais Uma Vez" became their most recognizable song, a simple thank-you note set to music that resonated widely.

In 1995, Eduardo was seriously injured in a car accident and faced temporary paralysis. The duo paused, then returned to performing. Later, in 2001, they faced criticism after using a homophobic slur during a concert. They apologized publicly and said they would work to promote tolerance. These incidents bookended a period where their music, always earnest, took on a more weathered quality.

They kept recording through the decades, putting out more than twenty studio albums. Another track, "Quatro Passos Alex e Eduardo," shows their later style, still melodic, still direct. The duo's appeal has always been in their uncomplicated approach: two voices, familiar arrangements, lyrics that speak plainly to everyday feelings.
