Alex Lloyd came up in Sydney in the late 1990s and early 2000s. His debut album 'Black the Sun' arrived in 2001 with the single 'Wonder,' which got a lot of radio play in Australia. He won a couple of ARIA awards around that time, including Album of the Year.
He put out records fairly steadily after that, like 'Watching Angels Mend' in 2003 and 'Distant Light' in 2005. Some of his other songs that people know include 'Lucky Star' and 'Speeding Cars.'
Later albums like 'Good Year for the Roses' from 2011 and 'Urban Wilderness' from 2018 showed him working in a more acoustic, singer-songwriter mode. He's mentioned Bob Dylan and Paul Simon as influences, and that comes through in the writing.
