Alex Matos is a Dominican singer who came up through merengue. His 2012 single "Si Entendieras" broke through, reaching the top of the Billboard Tropical Airplay chart. Another track, "Una Noche No Es Bastante," also became part of his catalog.
In 2013, he was involved in a legal dispute with the Dominican Republic's Association of Musicians and Arrangers over copyright claims. A few years later, in 2016, he was in a serious car accident that caused multiple injuries. He recovered and returned to performing.
