Alex Pérez started singing in Mexico City as a boy. By the mid-1990s he was getting noticed in Latin music circles. His 1999 debut single 'Me Basta' became a hit, its straightforward ballad style connecting with listeners.
He kept recording after that, putting out albums like 'Paso a Paso' in 2003 and 'Desnudo' in 2012. His songs, including 'Mi Pensamiento,' often worked in a traditional Latin ballad mode. Pérez performed with a live band that included guitarist Diego Garcia and bassist Alejandro Rodriguez.
In 2002 he was involved in a public lawsuit over a contract dispute. He was also known for being outspoken and for not following some of the industry's expected conventions, which drew mixed reactions. He kept making music through it, releasing 'Renacer' in 2018.
