Alex Pires is a Brazilian singer who first became known as the lead vocalist for the axé band Só Pra Contrariar. He joined the group in 1993 alongside his brothers Fernando and Juliano. Their 1997 debut album, also called 'Só Pra Contrariar,' was a major success in Brazil.
While leading the band, Pires has also released solo material that leans into samba, like his 2016 album 'Um Samba pro Brasil.' Some of his popular songs include 'Não Vai Rolar,' 'A Gozar La Vida,' and 'Do Tipo Esnobe.'
He was born in Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, in 1976. His father was the musician Antônio Marcos.
