Alex e Rodrigo

Alex Malheiros and Rodrigo Campos started playing together in the early 1990s. Malheiros handled percussion and vocals, while Campos played bass and wrote much of the material. They put out their first album in 1996, simply called 'Alex e Rodrigo.'

That debut included 'O Pau Vai Cair A Foia,' a song that caught on quickly. Its lyrics were funny and sharp, set to a rhythm that pulled from samba and funk. They kept that approach on later records like 'Panela Velha' and 'Coisa Boa Não Pode Acabar,' mixing social observation with a light touch.

Their songs sometimes drew criticism for being too direct, but they kept writing in that vein. They worked together for years, putting out albums into the 2000s, including one called 'A Vida É um Sonho.'
