Alexandre Cruz

Alexandre Cruz came up singing in his family's Pentecostal church, which gave him both his vocal style and the faith that runs through his music. His debut album in 2003 was called 'Fe no Coração', and that title track became a national hit in Brazil, built around a straightforward message of hope that connected with a wide audience.

In 2007, his career stalled when he faced public accusations of plagiarizing melodies from other artists. When he returned in 2010 with the album 'Novo Tempo', the songs leaned into themes of repentance and renewal.

Other tracks like 'Na Babilândia' and 'Represento Rasta' show how his music often circles back to spiritual identity, even as the arrangements sometimes borrow from contemporary pop. He's kept writing in that vein since, without much of the earlier chart noise.
