Alexiana

Alexiana formed in Rio de Janeiro around vocalist Mariana Aydar, guitarist Diego Bittencourt, and bassist Fábio Almeida. They started playing small venues and open mics, eventually releasing their debut single "Até O Amanhecer" in 2009. That song's rhythmic feel and harmonies connected with listeners and helped establish their presence in Brazilian indie pop.

Their albums "Simples Assim" and "Antes do Amanhecer" followed, with songs like "Calendário" and "Pra Definir" showing their melodic approach. The band toured in South America and Europe, building a following beyond Brazil. In 2015, they faced criticism over a song that some found disrespectful to indigenous cultures, which led them to reconsider their approach to lyrics and themes.

Alexiana's later work includes the albums "Luz" and "Renúncia," with tracks like "Não Corra Perigo" and "E Tudo Aconteceu" continuing their blend of pop accessibility and thoughtful writing. The lineup grew to include drummer Thiago Trad and keyboardist Marcus Ribeiro, but the core trio of Aydar, Bittencourt, and Almeida remained central to their sound.
