Alkateya formed in 2004 from the remains of the Finnish band Dark Cloud, with guitarist and vocalist Toni Ekman, drummer Marko Kivelä, and bassist Sami Karppinen. Their debut album 'Kairos' came out in 2006, featuring the track 'Demon Rider' that became a fan favorite. They followed with albums like 'Black Unicorn' in 2008 and 'Leviathan' in 2010.
In 2013, drummer Marko Kivelä left and was replaced by Mikko Salovaara. The band has continued releasing music, including 'Diamond Bitch' in 2016 and 'Lost Souls' in 2021. Their lineup now includes Jani Manninen on guitar alongside Ekman, Salovaara, and Karppinen.
Their songs like 'Exodus' and 'Nightmare' show their heavy metal style, which draws from power metal and melodic death metal influences. They've played festivals and toured, building a following in Finland and internationally.
