Alkeea formed in Amsterdam in 2007 with Anya van der Hagen on vocals, Mark van der Velde on guitar, Joris van den Berg on bass, and Martijn van der Linden on drums. Their debut single 'Allera' gained some radio play and helped them build an audience. They released their first album 'Echoes of the Past' in 2010.
In 2013 they put out a second album called 'The Awakening.' Bassist Joris van den Berg left in 2016 and was replaced by Niels van der Hoff. They've released two more albums since then, 'In Time' in 2017 and 'Beyond the Horizon' in 2021.
