Alkmia formed in Brasília in 2005 around vocalist and keyboardist Fabrício Nobre, guitarist Cesar Moraes, and bassist Fábio Sant'Anna. They worked with a sound that mixed rock, pop, and electronic elements, and released their first album, "Ciclocromo," in 2007.
Their 2010 album "Contos de Fadas para Ninar Demônios" dealt with difficult themes like child abuse and domestic violence. The title track from their 2012 album, "Decodificação da Minha História," questioned religious authority and drew criticism from some conservative Christian groups in Brazil, leading to a temporary radio ban.
Later albums included "Ascensão" in 2015 and "Renascimento" in 2019. Over time, other musicians like drummer Rodrigo Silveira and keyboardist André Mehmari joined the group.
