Allan Hall

Allan Hall formed in 1973 with Allan Hall on vocals and guitar, John Darden on drums, John Glenn on bass, and Larry Goshorn on keyboards. Their debut album 'The Road to Yesterday' came out that same year and included 'Between the Two of Them,' which became their best-known song. They worked in a folk and country-rock style, with other tracks like 'Bluebird, fly' and 'Gulf coast highway' showing their range.

In 1976, the band faced a copyright lawsuit from songwriter Mary McCaslin, who claimed 'Between the Two of Them' resembled her song 'Forever Changed.' The legal dispute lasted for years. They kept recording through the late 1970s and 1980s, putting out albums like 'Allan Hall' in 1976 and 'Shadows in the Moonlight' in 1989, along with songs such as 'Down in the river to pray' and 'House of a thousand dreams.'

Their music, particularly 'Between the Two of Them,' connected with listeners despite the controversies. The band's lineup changed over time, and their sound shifted in later years as their popularity faded. They never regained the early attention, but that first album and its standout track left a quiet imprint on folk and country-rock listeners.
