Almir dos Teclados was born Almir de Almeida in 1949 in Itiúba, Bahia. He grew up with forró, a traditional folk style from his region, and took up the accordion as his main instrument.
In 1993, he wrote "Me Dê Papai," a ballad about a child's plea for affection. The song became a national hit in Brazil, bringing him wider recognition. Other songs like "Agora É Você Quem Chora" and "Convivência" also became part of his repertoire.
He released albums including Almir dos Teclados ao Vivo in 1996 and O Rei do Teclado in 2001. In 1997, he was in a car accident that broke his hand, but he kept performing afterward.
