Archive material and source history
Amadan formed in Dublin in 2007, started by friends Damien Dempsey, Dave Murphy, Declan O'Rourke, and Dave Hingerty. They put out three albums: The Brass Rail in 2011, The Mountain in 2014, and The River in 2018. Their first record included 'Another Brass Rail,' which got some attention.
They kept writing what they wanted anyway. Songs like 'Back In Derry' and 'Black & Tans' show that side of their work.
They played a mix that drew from folk and rock, with some Irish traditional sounds in there too. By their third album, they were trying out different things, bringing in bits of world music and electronics. They toured around Ireland and built up a following there.
