Amatory formed in Moscow in 1997, with guitarist Denis Shaforostov and vocalist Igor Kapranov at the core. Their debut album 'Ground Zero' came out in 2003, bringing their aggressive take on nu metal to Russian audiences. The band's lineup included bassist Alexander Lukyanchenko, drummer Dmitry Muzuchinskiy, and keyboard player Sergey Osetnev.
They followed with albums like 'Volume 666' in 2006 and 'VII' in 2009, continuing to develop their sound. Songs like 'Don't Fuck With My Heart' and 'Багровый Рассвет' became staples in their catalog, mixing heavy riffs with Russian-language lyrics that connected with listeners.
In 2010, 'Don't Fuck With My Heart' drew criticism from some conservative groups over its explicit content. The band defended the song as part of their artistic expression. They kept recording through the 2010s, putting out 'IX' in 2014.
