Amauri e Zeza were a Brazilian duo from Rio de Janeiro who started working together in the late 1960s. They put out their first album, 'Cuidado,' in 1970. The pair was made up of Amauri Barroso, born in 1946, and Zezé Motta, born in 1944.
Their music pulled from samba and bossa nova, with some funk carioca in the mix. The song 'Cuidado' dealt with drug use, which was a touchy subject back then. Other tracks like 'Sexta-feira Em Jerusalém' and 'Paixão Pelas Almas' are part of their catalog.
Zezé Motta was also an actress and activist, and her vocals gave the duo a particular presence. They released a few more records in the early 1970s, including 'Despertar do Mundo' in 1971 and 'Espelho da Vida' in 1973.
