Amaury Vassili was born in Lyon, France in 1984. He studied classical voice at the Lyon Conservatory while also listening to pop artists like Michael Jackson. In 2009, he appeared on the French talent show 'La France a un Incroyable Talent' and performed 'Con te Partiro,' which helped launch his career.
His debut album 'Vincero' came out in 2010 and included both operatic pieces and pop songs. The title track was a version of a Puccini aria that did well on charts in France and elsewhere in Europe. Some of his other songs include 'Mi Fa Morire Cantando' and 'Con Tutto Il Cuore.'
Vassili's approach to mixing classical and pop styles drew some criticism from traditional opera listeners around 2011. He kept working with both kinds of material anyway.
