American Breed came out of Chicago in the late 1960s with Gary Loizzo on vocals. Their first single, 'Anyway That You Want Me,' did well in 1969, and they followed it with songs like 'Bend Me Shape Me' and 'Step Out Of Your Mind.'
They put out a few albums quickly, including 'Bend Me, Shape Me' and 'Pumpkin,' but nothing else caught on like that first hit. There was some legal trouble in the early 1970s over the writing credits for 'Anyway That You Want Me,' which involved Dennis Yost.
The band kept playing through the 1970s before calling it quits around 1979. Their music, especially that first single, still gets played now and then.
