Amnese

Amnese formed in 2002 around vocalist and guitarist Fernando Anitelli, with bassist Rodrigo Mantovani and drummer Rodrigo Oliveira. They started playing small venues, building a following through live shows. Their debut album came out in 2004, and the song 'Insignificância do Ser' became a standout track for them.

That song, along with others like 'And the ocean carried it away' and 'Comprehend the meaning of these tears,' often dealt with heavy themes. Some listeners found the lyrics about depression and alienation difficult, but the band kept writing what felt true to them. Their live performances were known for being intense and emotional.

They never became a mainstream act, but they developed a dedicated audience who connected with their atmospheric sound and direct approach to songwriting. The titles of their songs tell you something about their world, 'Epilogue: angels on the first day of summer' and 'I.Prologue: a telephone call on the last day of summer' suggest a kind of narrative weight they were interested in.
