Archive material and source history

Amocabel formed in Barcelona in the mid-1990s with David García on vocals, Francesc Ripoll and Gerard de la Fuente on guitars, Oriol Teixidor on bass, and Albert Cantó on drums. Their self-titled debut album came out in 1997, mixing acoustic rock with introspective lyrics that got some critical attention but didn't break through commercially.

Things shifted with their third album in 2002, which shared its name with the song 'El Tiempo, Tu Tiempo.' That track became a hit, though its lyrics about time were read by some as commentary on Spain's handling of the 2004 Madrid attacks. The band faced protests and show cancellations over those interpretations.

They kept putting out albums like 'Finisterre' in 2004 and 'La Luz Prodigiosa' in 2007. Later, García had surgery for a vocal cord injury.
