Amsteradio was a Brazilian indie band from São Paulo active in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The group consisted of Andre Abujamra on vocals, bass, and keyboards, Marcos Gauguin on guitar and vocals, and Fabio Elias on drums. Their debut album 'Cansei de Menina Indie' came out in 1997, with the title track becoming something of an anthem.
Their music blended rock, pop, and samba elements, which some found unconventional at the time. Songs like 'Não Minto Quando Eu Sinto' and 'A Minha Melhor Amiga' showed their knack for catchy melodies paired with lyrics that often touched on social and personal themes. They released several albums including 'Sound Habit' in 1999 and 'Love Rockets' in 2001.
The band went on hiatus around 2007. Their catalog, including tracks like 'Casaco Favorito' and 'Superestação', still gets played by listeners who connected with their particular blend of Brazilian indie sounds.
