Ana Cristina (MPB)

Ana Cristina Valente de Sousa was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1969. Her early musical influences included samba, bossa nova, and MPB, with particular admiration for composers like Chico Buarque and Milton Nascimento.

Her career took shape in 1994 with the release of her debut album 'Coração Dispara.' The title track became a signature song, establishing her presence in Brazilian music. She later recorded 'Ana Cristina Canta Milton Nascimento' in 1996 as a tribute to one of her influences.

Ana Cristina has worked with musicians including pianist Fábio Torres, bassist Zé Nogueira, and drummer Marcio Bahia. She has also collaborated with artists like Caetano Veloso, João Bosco, and Gilberto Gil. Her songs include 'No Fundo Já Sabia,' 'Amor Êxtase,' and 'Céu Azul.'

In 2002 she released the album 'Rosa' with guitarist Baden Powell. Her music draws from traditional MPB while incorporating other elements, though she has maintained a focus on Brazilian musical traditions throughout her work.
