Ananawe

Ananawe formed in 2012 in Manacapuru, Brazil, led by singer-songwriter Cuíra Mura. The group's name means 'children of the earth' in the Mura language, and their music draws from Amazonian traditions alongside other influences. They've worked with musicians like guitarist André Abujamra and bassist David Pulkingham.

Their 2018 single 'O melhor lugar do mundo' became a notable track, celebrating the Amazon rainforest. Other songs like 'Energia Positiva' and 'Beijar seu amor de manhã' show their range, blending introspective lyrics with varied instrumentation. In 2022, they released 'Pani,' a collaboration with indigenous musicians from the Amazon region.

The group's performances have sometimes sparked discussion about environmental messages, particularly around songs addressing the Amazon. They continue to create music that reflects their roots while incorporating different sounds and collaborators.
