Archive material and source history

Andaluz was a Brazilian band that formed in the 1970s. Their debut album came out in 1976, and they followed it with records like 'Luz do Sol' in 1977 and 'Maravilhas do Mundo' in 1978. The group included Jorge Mautner on vocals and guitar, Nelson Jacobina on bass, Carlos Dafé on drums, and Fernando Falcão on keyboards.

Their song 'Da Consolação' became their most recognizable track. It appeared on that first album and stuck around as something people kept listening to. They had other songs like 'Das Coisas Que Não Voltam' and 'Ode' that showed their range.

They mixed samba with funk and rock, which wasn't the standard approach at the time. That blend sometimes put them at odds with more traditional circles in Brazilian music. Their sound wasn't about fitting neatly into one category.

By 1980 they'd released 'Horizonte Aberto,' which continued in a similar vein. The band's recordings from that period have held up for listeners who appreciate that particular fusion of styles.
