André Damatta

André Damatta started out singing with the band Sambô, which mixed samba with alternative rock. His voice stood out, and he became one of their more recognizable members before going solo. In 2003, he put out his first album, 'Só,' which included the song 'Amor Invasivo.' That track caught on widely in Brazil, with its direct lyrics about longing and passion.

He's kept recording since then, with albums like 'Na Batida' in 2006 and a self-titled release in 2010. Other songs like 'Ceci' and 'DOIDIM' show his style, which leans into pop and rock while keeping some Brazilian rhythmic feel. His live recordings, such as 'Ao Vivo no Morro da Urca' from 2014, document how he performs with a band that includes musicians like guitarist Pedro Ivo and drummer Daniel de Paula.

Damatta writes frankly about relationships and emotion, which has sometimes drawn criticism for being too explicit. He hasn't shied away from that, saying his music comes from his own experiences. The straightforwardness in songs like 'Insegurança' and 'Parte de Mim' is part of what connects with his audience.
