Andrea Motis is a saxophonist and vocalist from Barcelona who started playing music early. Her father Joan Motis, a jazz bassist, was part of that beginning. By age eleven she was performing with his band, and at fourteen she put out her first album, "Joan Chamorro Presenta Andrea Motis."
She followed that with records like "Feeling Good" and "Emotional Dance." Her song "Dança da Solidão" shows the kind of rhythmic, melodic playing she's known for. She has toured in Europe, Asia, and North America, and has worked with musicians including Quincy Jones, Pat Metheny, and Wynton Marsalis.
Her band has included Joan Chamorro on guitar, Josep Traver on piano, Esteve Pi on bass, and Roger Blàvia on drums. Later albums include "Free Fall" and "Colours and Shadows."
