Androp

Androp formed in Osaka around 2004, starting as a duo with vocalist Unyu and bassist Ishii. By 2006, drummer Itabashi and keyboardist Takiguchi had joined, and they put out their first EP, 'anemone,' in 2008. Their sound didn't fit neatly into existing categories, mixing rock with folk and electronic touches, which made it hard to get a label interested at first.

They signed with Victor Entertainment in 2010 and released their debut album, 'anata,' that same year. Songs like 'Ao' and 'Bright Siren' show their approach: atmospheric arrangements with lyrics that lean toward the introspective. They followed with albums like 'panorama' in 2011 and 'maybe' in 2014, each continuing in that vein of quiet, melodic exploration.

Some of their material touches on themes like depression, which has drawn attention in Japan where such topics are less openly discussed. Their music tends to avoid big statements, working instead through quieter, poetic details that listeners have found resonant over time.
