Andy Abraham recorded Bill Withers' "Ain't No Sunshine" in 1969, and that version became the one most people remember. His voice had a particular kind of ache that fit the song perfectly, turning it into something more than just another cover.
He put out albums like "The Way I Feel" and "Soul Mate" in the early 1970s. Songs like "Don't Leave Me This Way" and "Easy" showed he could handle different styles, from soul ballads to lighter reggae tunes.
Abraham was born in Jamaica and sang with a group called The Silvertones before his solo work. He eventually returned to Jamaica and died there in 2000.
