Angel (Helena Iren Michaelsen)

Angel was the project of Norwegian vocalist Helena Iren Michaelsen, who formed the band in 1990. Their debut album 'The Labyrinth' came out that same year, followed by several others including 'A Woman's Diary' in 1992 and 'Seven Times Seven' in 1996. The music leaned toward symphonic metal with power ballads, and their song 'Don't Wanna Run' became a notable track.

Michaelsen was the consistent presence through various lineup changes that included musicians like guitarist Tor Erik Mikalsen and bassist Tore Østby. The band's image and Michaelsen's outspoken approach sometimes drew attention beyond the music itself.

They worked with a few outside musicians, including Jon Lord from Deep Purple and Doug Aldrich from Whitesnake. The albums explored themes around love and loss through Michaelsen's vocal style and the band's guitar arrangements.
