Angelicca formed in Sweden in 1994 as a gothic metal band. Vocalist Jennie Tebler and guitarist Gary Tiburzi started the group, but Tiburzi died in 1996, just as they were beginning to find their footing. Tebler kept the band going after that loss.

Their first album came out in 1997, simply called 'Angelicca.' They followed it with records like 'Ecstasy' in 2000 and 'Twin Shadows' in 2004. Songs like 'Secrets' and 'Dragon' show their style, which mixed heavy guitar work with atmospheric, sometimes symphonic touches.

Some critics accused the band of promoting satanic themes because of their Gothic imagery and album art. Tebler denied this, saying the music was just their artistic expression. The lineup changed over time, with musicians like Tommy Lindal on guitar and Jerker Edman on bass coming through the band.
